Privacy Policy
This page explains, in plain language, how personal information is handled when you contact Real Vipassana, register for a seminar, apply for a retreat or use this website.
Last updated: 9 September 2026
What information may be collected
Depending on how you contact Real Vipassana, you may provide information such as your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, country, message, meditation or movement experience, date of birth and, where relevant to a retreat, accommodation or meal preferences.
If you choose to provide allergy, dietary or other health-related information, please provide only what is reasonably necessary for the requested retreat or service. Health-related information can receive additional protection under data-protection law and is handled only for the purpose for which it was provided.
Why the information is used
Personal information may be used to respond to your enquiry, process a seminar registration or retreat application, organise the requested service or event, provide practical or payment information, communicate with you about that specific request, maintain necessary administrative records, and keep the website and communications secure.
Why processing is permitted
Depending on the situation, processing may be based on one or more of the following grounds:
- steps you ask Real Vipassana to take before entering into an agreement, or performance of an agreement with you;
- legitimate interests in answering enquiries, organising services and events, maintaining appropriate records and protecting the website and communications;
- compliance with legal, accounting or other regulatory obligations;
- your consent, where consent is required, for example for optional marketing or non-essential cookies.
Where special-category information such as health-related allergy information is genuinely necessary, it should only be processed with an appropriate additional legal basis, such as explicit consent where required.
What you need to provide
Fields marked as required are needed to respond to or process the relevant request. Other information is optional. If necessary information is not provided, Real Vipassana may be unable to process a registration, application or booking request.
You can choose to stay in touch
If you choose to subscribe — for example by ticking an optional “Keep me updated” box on a registration, retreat application or contact form — Real Vipassana may use your name and email address to send occasional updates about meditation classes, retreats, seminars and related offerings.
This is completely optional. You can still send an enquiry, register for a seminar or apply for a retreat without agreeing to marketing.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe option in a marketing email or by contacting info@realvipassana.com. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.
Who may receive information
Personal information is not sold to advertisers. It may be disclosed only where reasonably necessary for the requested service or for legal obligations. Depending on the service, recipients may include:
- website, hosting, email and communications providers;
- payment or booking providers, if used for a particular service;
- retreat venues, teachers, collaborators or administrative partners where they genuinely need the information to organise the event;
- professional advisers, public authorities or other recipients where disclosure is required by law.
Service providers should receive only the information reasonably necessary for the task they perform.
Services outside the European Economic Area
Some technology or communications providers may process information outside the European Economic Area. Where this occurs, appropriate safeguards should be used as required by applicable data-protection law, such as an adequacy decision or contractual safeguards.
How the website uses cookies
This website is built using Wix. Wix and website features may use essential cookies for security, operation and basic functionality. If non-essential analytics, advertising or similar tracking tools are enabled, they should be used only in accordance with applicable consent requirements.
Where a cookie banner or cookie settings control is available, you can use it to accept, reject or change your choices for non-essential cookies. Third-party tools, if enabled, may also operate under their own privacy policies.
How long information is kept
Information is kept only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was provided. The period depends on the context: an enquiry may be kept until it has been resolved and for a limited follow-up period; registration or booking records may be kept for as long as needed for event administration, accounting or legal obligations; marketing information is kept until consent is withdrawn or it is no longer needed.
Health-related or similarly sensitive retreat information should be kept only for as long as it is genuinely needed for the relevant retreat or service, unless a longer period is required by law.
How information is protected
Reasonable technical and organisational measures are used to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or disclosure. No internet or email transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure, so only information reasonably necessary for the request should be provided.
Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you may have the right to:
- request access to your personal information;
- ask for inaccurate information to be corrected;
- request deletion in certain circumstances;
- request restriction of processing;
- object to certain processing;
- request data portability where applicable;
- withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent, without affecting earlier lawful processing;
- object to solely automated decisions with significant effects, where applicable.
To exercise a right or ask a privacy question, contact info@realvipassana.com. Requests are handled in accordance with applicable law.
If you have a concern
If you are concerned about how your personal information has been handled, you are welcome to contact Real Vipassana first so the issue can be reviewed. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority.
No significant automated decision-making
Real Vipassana does not use solely automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal effects, or similarly significant effects, in relation to seminar registrations, retreat applications or ordinary enquiries.
Updates to this policy
This policy may be updated when services, website tools or legal requirements change. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised.
